New year, new projects // Personal post
So this year, I want to focus on getting back to the roots of my passion for art and photography. I began taking photos back in High School, teaching myself how to use a camera, editing on photoshop, and the art of self-portraiture.
I started a 365 project my senior year of High School and fell in love with how I could document each day's emotions. Even now, when I go back to each photo, I can remember certain parts of that day which I know I would not remember had I not done that project.
As the years went on, my work became more forced. I started my wedding and portrait photography business because that seemed like the most logical thing to do if I wanted photography to be my full-time job. I loved the clients I worked/am working with and I absolutely loved documenting some of the most important moments in their lives. But, I noticed that my heart was not completely in it. I became dependent on other photographer's work and lives and began to mimic what they did because I thought it was the right thing for me.
While I am still booking a limited number of weddings and portrait sessions this year, I am taking some time to focus on my personal work and getting back to what started it all in hopes of finding the path that is my own.
I have begun a new personal project for the year of 2018 - a 52 weeks project. I hope that you'll follow along as I post a photograph each week and forge my own path artistically.
